TIME WASTED IN COURT.
CASE AT PALMERSTON. CRITICISM OF PROCEDURE. [by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday. Mr.' Justice Ostler, in tho Supreme Court, when v congratulating the district upon the almost complete absence of serious crimo, said that in addition to a prisoner for sentence the only ono case for trial was one of allegedly obtaining a small sum by means of false pretences, which coidd quite well havo been dealt with in tho Magistrate's Court.
The grand jury, in returning a true bill, expressed the opinion that unnecessary expense had been incurred by having the caso dealt with in the Supreme Court. His Honor agreed, and said it was a pity the time of so many people must be wasted. Ho stated the case should have been dealt with by justices in the Lower Court.
