TO-DAY'S WEATHER HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to- day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening Cyclonic conditions still prevail along the East Coast of the North Island, the disturbance having moved further south. Expect cloudy and unsettled conditions in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, with rain, heavy in North Auckland and East Coast districts, resulting in flooded rivers. Still mainly fair to fine in southern areas, with scattered showers, but gradually becoming unsettled as tho rain area extends southward from tho depression in tho north. Southerly to south-easterly winds, moderate to strong, increasing strong to galo at times in northern districts. Rough seas on the East Coast, especially northward from East Capo; seas smooth to moderate on tho West Coast. Cool temperatures. Local outlook : —Cloudy to overcast, with intermittent heavy rain. GOVERNMENT REPORT Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as v follows:—A cyclone is still centred east-north-east of Capo Maria and has intensified. There is little variation of pressure over tho Tasman Sea and eastern Austialia. Indications are for south to south-east winds, of galo force at times, about East Capo and tho far north, and increasing elscwhero in tho Auckland Provinco. Light to moderato in other parts, but freshening somewhat. Seas rough north of Napier; elsewhero smooth to moderate. Southerly winds prevailing in the eastern Tasman §ea; fresh in tho northern portion and light to moderate in tho southern portion. Seas smooth to moderate. Rain in North Auckland and the East Cape and Gisborno district, and extending southward somewhat. Otherwise fine over tho Dominion.
