ELDERLY MAN'S DEATH.
DISCOVERY AT MANGERE. An elderly resident of Gray's Avenue. Mangoro, Thomas Dawson Smith, was found dead at his residence about 5 p.m. on Sunday with his head over a gas stove, which was turned on. An inquest was hold yesterday at the Otnhuhu Courthouse by Mr. W. 11. Woodward, S.M.
Evidence was given that deceased had been in ill-health for some months. Ho returned homo from Auckland on Sunday afternoon and at the time was tho only occupant of the house. An employee of tho firm at Mangero of which deceased was manager called about 5 p.m. and discovered tho body. A verdict of suicide from gas poisoning was returned.
