AUSTRALIAN TOBACCO.
ASSISTANCE FOR GROWERS.
Mr. Charles Coward, who has been visiting Queensland, on behalf of Pacific Tobacco Industries (Australasia), Ltd., has arrived at Brisbane, after a visit to the north, whero he interviewed a number of growers and prospective growers of tobacco. He said the company intended to erect a bulk clearing factory at Cairns or Townsville, and was prepared to supply seed to growers for the first year or two, and to provide expert tuition in tobacco culture during the same period. Queensland, Mr, Coward said, was'the best State for growing tobacco for the homo market. The company intended to contract with growers for the supply of leaf, and expected to pay out more than £500,000 a year for the;, raw product. In addition to a bulk clearing house, a factory would be erected in Brisbano for the manufacture of cigarettes.
