AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS. TEAM FOR ENGLISH TOUR. . f SYDNEY, Jan. 28. The personnel of the Australian cricket test team to tour England is expected to be announced on Thursday. QUESTION OF CAPTAINCY. LONDON, Jan. 20. The relative merits of the possible candidates for the position of captain of the next Australian Eleven are discussed by R. H. Bettington, the Sydney cricketer, who played for Oxford and Middlesex when in England, in a cable message to the Daily Mail. " Ryder," he says, " has had a bad season as a batsman, is a poor field, unimaginative, and thinks slowly. His selection would bo unpopular, and he should not be included in the team.

" Richardson is a good captain, brainy, and daring, and a wonderful field. He possesses the inspiration of leadership, is popular and lias had a fair season, but is hardly good enough to bo included in the team.

" Woodfull is better than either. He is sure of his place, is a good judge, a sound field, and forms determined opinions.

" Kippax, whom some consider among the possibles, would be a failure, as he doos_ not possess the courage of his opinions, and his judgment is poor."
