LARGE EXPORTS TO EAST*
REPORT TO TOE LEAGUE.
GENEVA. Jan. 23
The drug exporters of Europe.are making colossal fortunes by pouring their poisons into Egypt and the Far East, states Major-General Russell Pasha, head of the Cairo Narcotics Bureau, who arrived at Geneva to report, to.the League Advisory Commission on opium. . General Russell says he had tracked back drugs from a Cairo carpet seller to firms in Zurich, Mulbausen and Basle. One firm in Mulhausen manufactured and exported between 1026 and 1929 more than six tons of heroin, nearly a ton of morphine and 4cwt. of cocaine, although the world's legitimate medicinal and scientific requirements for heroin are only 1J tons a year. .
Ho qlaims that a big ihlernationaf organisation has been broken up by the Swiss police, acting on information sent from the Cairo Bureau.
