WOMEN AS JURORS.
In a newly-published book, " Secrets of a Solicitor," there ore some stories about Lord Darling, and one of them illustratos the working of the sometimes inconsequent mind of the woman juror.
Ono of those women protested against being summoned to serve on a High Court jury, because sho conscientiously objected to capital punishment. Mn Justice Darling patiently explained that the case she would have to consider had nothing to do with tho death penalty. "It is a civil action, brought by a ludy who gave her husband £2OO to buy a fur coat. Tho husband lost tho money gambling, and tho wife is suing him for tho recovery of the £2OO. " Oh, in said the lady, "I have no objection to serving on the jury—and perhaps I was wrong about capital punishment."
