LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
AUCKLANDERS IN ENGLAND. Auckland Rugby League footballers continue to do well in England, and Hardgrave is the latest to impress the critics. Ho played a splendid gamo against tho Australians for St. Helens, and again at Wigan scored a very fine try opposed to L. Brown. Hutt, tho ex-Ponsonby forward, has built up a reputation as a strong fighter, and on several occasions has successfully tested his strength against bigger forwards. From letters received, Hutt is far from satisfied with playing conditions, and he has already mentioned tho possibility of his returning to Auckland. L. Brown and L. Mason are the stars of Wigan, whose form this season is much below that of 1929, when the famous Lancashire club won the English League supremacy. B. Davidson has not had many opportunities this season, but his l'orm is still good. Davidson recently made a request for transfer to Huddersfield, but the fee, £4OO, demanded by the Wigan directors, was considered too high. As Wigan has the right of renewal of Davidson's contract, at its termination this season, the Aucklander is almost certain to return to New Zealand in April, as he cannot play for any other English club without transfer.
