WEEK-END WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

The following weather foroca't for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—A tropical disturbance has moved rapidly down from the northern Tasman Sea, while a new westerly depression is approaching the South Island. Cloudy to overcast weather conditions are indicated generally, with heavy rain in North Auckland* districts, and intermittent rain in western and southern areas. Northerly to north-easterly winds, strong to gale, in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong north-westerlies ruling southward of the above-mentioned places. Bough seas on the east coast southward from East Cape, and heavy seas northward of Whangarei. Moderate seas on the west coast. Local outlook: Cloudy to overcast, with heavy rain.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A rather deep depression is now advancing on to New Zealand. The barometer readings are rising over eastern Australia. Indications are for moderate to strong northerly winds, reaching gale force at places south of Capo Egrnont and Castlepoint, backing to southerly within from 24 to 36 hours. Seas in New Zealand waters rough south of Cape Egrnont and offshore south of Castlepoint.- Elsewhere moderate. Strong northerly winds in the eastern Tasman, backing later to southerly and increasing to gale force. Moderate but rising seas. Weather fine at first in eastern districts, with increasing cloud, elsewhere unsettled with rain arid later rain becoming more general, with warm temperatures.
