Subject to certain restrictions pending the completion of the permanent bridges, the first section of the waterfront road, from Campbell's Point to Hobson Point, will be thrown open to traffic as from tomorrow. A 4peed limit of 25 miles an lioiir on the roadway and 5 miles an hour on the bridges is being imposed. The bridges, temporary structures, have only one track and require to be crossed in

The waterfront road has a bitumen pavement 50ft. wide and that round Whakatakataka Bay a similar pavement 30ft. wide. Full use of the now route will be possible toward the close of next year with the completion of the two ferroconcrete 'in tho embankment across'Hobson Bay'. The first of these 1 is expected to be completed within four months from now, but tho work on the other will require seven or eight months. A x furtheiy section of the Waterfront road, from Hobson Point to the Orakei sewerage tanks,'is expected to be ready for use by the autumn. To complete the waterfront drive the road will be carried to Mission Bay, there to link up with existing inland / roads. Considerable building activity at Orakei suburb during the summer is anticipated as' a result • the opening of the snort route across Hobson Bay.
