BUSINESS BELOW NORMAL.

Another fairly quiet day was experienced on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Strength was maintained in the gilt-edged market, with sellers quoting a little more freely. Inscribed Stock, 1936, 5£ pe;' cent., had sale at £lOl 10s, which was 2s 6d firmer than the last local salo which took place in July, but 5s easier than the last salo in Wellington. Interest was lacking in banks. Nationals of New Zealand were done equal to Christchurch levels at £6 16s, and New Zealands changed hands 6d easier at 60s, at which price offers were renewed. Coals remained in firm demand and in gas Aucklands were sought firmer at 25s 2d, sellers 25s 7d. Apart from a further casing of Electrolytic Zincs there were few changes in the other sections. Ac-, live trading was done in the preference issue of Zincs, which sold twice 3d cheaper at 34s 9d and again at 34s 3d. The ordinary issue was available at 34s 3d, but there was no inquiry. A current-price sale of Farmers' Tradings was made at 9s, and Wilsons Cements changed hands twice unaltered at 41s 6d., In mining Wailiis again commanded an increase and had sale at 13s 2d, an advance of 2d on tho provious day's salo price.
