HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Mainly fair to fine weather is indicated over most of the Auckland Province during the week-end, although unsettled at times, with occasional showers, especially in South Auckland areas. Unsettled and showery weather is expected in western and southern districts, but conditions should improve generally. Cold temperatures. Westerly to south-westerly winds, strong to gale and squally, decreasing shortly. Rough seas on the west coast, particularly southward from New Plymouth. The recent disturbance is now passing eastward, and a sharp increase in barometric pressure is likely. A new depression is developing on the western Tasnian Sea. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 29.651n. Midnight, Thursday .. .. 29.501n. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported Jast evening as follows: —The cyclone is still located ovet the centre of the South Island, while the fresh one referred to yesterday is centred cast of Tasmania. Indications are for moderate to strong northwest to west winds, north of West-port and Kaikoura, backing • temporarily to south-west; elsewhere moderate south to west. Seas rather rough generally. Moderate to strong south to west winds and rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still unsettled and in places squally. Further showers in most , districts.* but a temporary improvement probable at most places to-morrow. Cool temperatures.
