The fact that 'Waihi is without 'a municipal war memorial .was mentioned by Dr.'.lV.G. Short at tji'o meoting of the Borough Council last evening.
In most towns, lie said, sonio sort of memorial to those who had fallen had been erected 'and,' Although .Waihi had lagged behind, he did not think it was too lato to do 'something td perpetuate the memory of those from Waihi who had nifide the supreme • sacrifice. The Mayor, Mr. W.' M: Wallnutt, and the others" present were' sympathetic, and one suggestion was that'the Martha Hill Park should be dedicated next Anzac Day and be ; called Anzao Park in' commemoration of those who had given their lives, a column, with the names of the dead inscribed thereon .to be erected at a prominent spot. The Mayor iindcrto6k -to convene a public meeting to go into- the matter after the Christmas vacation., ,
