Tho Parliamentary Secretary to tho Board of Trade, Mr. W. R. Smith, stated in tlie House of Commons that tho value of British produco and manufactures bought by Argentina in tho year ended September 30 amounted to £2 14s 2d per head of tho population, compared with Australia, £8 12s 7d, ana New Zealand, £l4 2s Bd.

Argentina had offorcrl to lialvo tho dai.ins on artificial silk from Britain if Britain would declare that she did not propose to tax Argentino food products. Such a declaration was expressed in tho Government's policy, and it did not involve any formal agreement. The question of consulting the Dominions in that connection did not arise.
