CONSTANTINOPLE ROUND-UP

Sopio years ago thousands of stray dogs wero collected from the streets of Constantinople in dust carts, put on an island in the Sea of Marmora, and left to starve.

A similar round-up was instituted by the municipal authorities a few weeks ago. But this time it was beggars and not dogs that were collected. The police wrested beggars, placed ihcni in yellow motor-cars, and dispatched them to the workhouse. Thus Constantinople was freed from another nuisance.
