SCHOOL HALL OPENED.

THE WORK OF VOLUNTEERS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI. Thursday. The Methodists of Opotiki celebrated the opening of their new Sunday School hall last evening. In spits of the storm over 100 people were present. Details of the efforts which culminated in the function were outlined by Mr. A. H. Couch, who said subscriptions had enabled the materials for the hall to be bought, and labour for the building had been given entirely free. The hall was valued at or;:- £4OO.

The Rev. Skuse expressed appreciation of the efforts of the voluntary workers and the R«v. D. Hird, ' and Adjutant Thompson, of the Salvation Army, also addressed the meeting. The Rev. Skuse then called upon Mrs. Jackson to declare tiie hall open. A social evening followed.
