NEW ARMOUR PLATE.

MUCH GREATER RESISTANCE. RESULT OF BRITISH RESEARCH. LONDON, Nov. 26. The military correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that in the eternal duel between armour and projectile recent British research has evolved a new type of armour-plate. This is so much harder in proportion to its weight that it will double the resistance to projectiles," and thus givo armoured protection a lead which the projectile will find hard to overtake.

Tho new armour-plato will have a big influence on warship design and the mechanisation of armies, says the correspondent. Hitherto 14 millimetres of armour have been required to keep out an ordinary armour-piercing bullet, but the now specially-hardened armour-plate will permit of fast, light, armoured tanks, which will dodge or outflank tho opposing anti-tank ' guns. Also it will mean a great saving in cost.
