A fine of £2O. and cancellation of his driving' licence for 12 months was the penalty imposed on Frederick Alexander Robinson, painter, of Auckland, in the Papakura Police Court yesterday, for being intoxicated in charge of a car. Accused was proceeded against by the traffic inspector for the Main Highways Board, Mr. E. H. Barrett. Ho was also charged with failing to stop after colliding with a stationary car and travelling at a

dangerous speed. I The inspector agreed to withdraw tho last two charges, whereupon Mr. Allan Moody, for • accused, entered a plea of guilty to the charge of being intoxicated while in charge of the car. Counsel stated that accused had consumed two bottles of beer. He was not in the habit of drinking intoxicating liquor and this amount of beer proved more than he should have had. A request was made that accused should be allowed time in which to pay tho fine, and the magistrate, Mr. F. H. Levien, allowed a month. PROSECUTION AT HAWERA. ANOTHER LICENCE CANCELLED.
