GIRLS' ASSOCIATION.

COMPETITIONS COMMENCED

The senior and junior grade competitions under the control of the Auckland Girls Cricket Association were commenced on Saturday afternoon at the Remuera sports grounds, in fino weather. In tho senioigrade Training College scored an easy win over W.Y.C.A., but a close gamo resulted between Grammar Old Girls and. Hockey A, the former winning by sis runs. 11l tho junior grade Takapuna Grammar Old Girls and Grammar Old Girls B defeated Hockey B and All Saints' respectively. ' PUKEKOHE ASSOCIATION

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] • - PUKEKOHE. Saturday. By a margin of one run, Pukekohe defeated Karaka to-day in a further match in the Pukekohe Cricket Association's senior competition. The match occupied last Saturday afternoon and this afternoon, but each team completed only one innings. Pukekohe scored 167 runs (Drake 40, H. Pleydell 36, Rose 33, Cartwright 18, W. Pleydel! 11) and Karaka 166 runs (M. Brooke 60. Tatty 53. A. Johnson 15). Bowling for Karaka. Yinyan took four wicketw for 21 runs, Ashworth four for 49, and Brooke one for 36. For Pukekohe. Drake took five for 42, Fallows two for seven. Rose one for 20. and Sclilacpfer one for 33._ In the same competition, Wesley College to-day secured a four-point win from vPukekohe Technical High School. The match ended with College the winners by an innings and 13 runs. High School's first innings yielded only 29 runs (Ferguson 9). whereas Wesley College replied with 121 runs (Kaho 60. Robb 30. Walters 12K High School made 79 runs (Yinyan 33. Kidd 21, Taylor 14). in its second innings. Bowling for Wesley College Kaho took six wickets for 3R runs. Vaea seven for 40. and P. A. Hickling three for 17. For High School, Rrooks took seven for 38, Ferguson one for 2, Hardy one for 8. and Deane one for 13.

PTAKO ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] MATAMATA, Sunday. In a cricket match at Manawaru yesterday Matamata lost against Manawaru by six wickets. In their first innings Matamata made 45 and in the second 78 (Griffiths 23.' Silk 17. Whelan 10). Cleave took three wickets for 4 runs. Manawaru in their first innings mado_93 and in the second 42 for four wickets (N. Harvey not out 18). Morrinsvillo B defeated Waharoa. at Mnfftmata, by six runs. In their first innings Morrinsville made 03 and in the second, 50 (Dodd 12). AVaharoa made 52, and 00 (Ayers 21, Bodgers Hi). Mclntyre took five wickets for 31.

MATCH AT ROTORUA

[BY TELKGR Aril. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] ROTORUA, Sunday. A cricket match yesterday between the Rotorua. High School and Ngongataha resulted in a win for the school. High School in their first innings made 230 (Dawson 82. D. Ryder 80. ,T. Hinton 18. N. Hinton 17). Ngongotaha in their first innings made 07. and in their second innings. 32. The best bowlers for the school tenm were Matthews, Dawson and Byder, SECONDARY SCHOOLS MATCH. [BY TELEGRAM- —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Sunday.

A cricket match has been arranged between the first eleven of the Whangarei High School and Takapuna Grammar School. This will tako place in Auckland in three weeks' time, and will be an enjoyable end of the final term for those boys selected to make the trip. High School is able to field a strong team at present, but. will be much weakened after the holidays, as several of tho best cricketers are not returning.
