TO-DAY'S WEATHER

HIRALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

| The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Fair to fine weather is indicated, with warm day temperatures, and cool nights. Somewhat unsettled at times in western districts, especially of the South Island, with scattered showers. Southerly to southwesterly winds, moderate to strong, in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong westerly to northwosterlies ruling in southern areas. Fairly rough seas on the west coast of both islands, and in Cook Strait; moderate on the east coast. Barometric pressure is low in the south, but relatively high over the North Island. Indications point to a spell of westerly weather, dry conditions -prevailing over the northern portion of the North Island. Expect high temperatures in east coast districts. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Pressure is falling with the advance of an intense depression across the Tasman Sea. Indications are for moderate to strong winds, northerly to westerly, and reaching gale force at places south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint. Seas becoming rough on the west coast and offshore south of Castlepoint. Elsewhere moderate. Strong north to west winds to gale in the eastern Tasman Sea, with rough seas. Weather unsettled in western districts, with rain, especially in the South Island, where some heavy falls. Elsewhere mainly fair at first, but haze and cloud increasing soon, and later showers. Warm temperatures.
