HOWICK TOWN BOARD.
POLLING DATE FOR LOANS,,
The Howick Town Board met on Thursday evening, the chairman, Mr. J* Crawford, presiding.Wednesday, December 18, was fixed as the polling date in respect of the. pro* posed loans totalling £15,236. In connection with the. water supply ii» was arranged to confer with the mem< bers of the Stockade Hill Domain Board to locate the most suitable site for af reservoir. The Minister of Fublic Works regretting the department's inability tq support financially the board's proposal tq improve beach culverts and the Mellon a Bay Road. The clerk reported that the financial position of the board was satisfactory, tha overdraft at the bank having been reduced to £97. It was arranged that* after expending £SO on Mellon's Bay) Road, only emergency work should bq undertaken during the next few months. Several applications for additional street lights were received. It was d<n cided to postpone any extension until ths end of the summer season.
