POST OFFICE FACILITIES. DESIRE FOR NEW BUILDING/' Proposals for improvement of the posti office service and facilities in Papatoetoa have been engaging attention in the disn trict recently, and to co-ordinate arrangements for making representations to the department a conference arranged by the Papatoetoe Town Board was held this week. Representatives of the Cham* ber of Commerce and the Welfare League were present, also Mr. A. W. Hall, M-fy Mr. T. R. Smytheman, chairman of tlx Papatoetoe Town Board, who presided, said that the present office had been ip use for 15 years, and the volume of business had increased several times over. Mr. S. J. E. Closey, president of the Welfare League, said that his organisation wished to recommend the. erection of ai new post office on a new site. After discussion, it was decided that thi| meeting could not go into the question crj site, since that was a matter for the det partment, and carried a resolution express, ing the opinion that a new building should bo provided for the district.
