DEATH OF PIONEER.
OLDEST SETTLER AT TAIHAPE [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TAIHAPE, Friday. The death occurred last evening of Mr. Thomas Waller Williams, a wellknown farmer of Mataroa, near Taihupe. Ho was the oldest pioneer of the Taihape district, having come hero 54 years ago. Ho was born at Napier in 3852. Ho was keenly interested in stock and secured many prizes at the agricultural shows. Bcforo engaging in farming Mi". Williams conducted a carrying business and was tho first, man to bring a horso arid dray from Napier to Moswhango, 12 miles from Taihape. Ho was a past-pre-svflent of the Rangilikoi Agricultural and Pastoral Association and a director of the Taihapo Dairy Company. Ho is survived by four eons and two daughters*
