BRIDGE OVER HARBOUR.
INVESTIGATION OF SITES. BORINGS START NEXT WEEK. Boring operations in connection 'with the proposed bridge across the Waitemata Harbour will be commenced by the Public Works Department on Monday. The borings are boing made with a view to preparing evidence to place before the Harbour Bridge Commission, which is expected to resume its sittings on December 2.
In connection with the boring operations the Auckland Harbour Board advises mariners that on and after Monday a punt will be moored during the daytime in the centre of the harbour between Stokes' Point, Northcote, and Ponsonby Point and will flv a red flag. Several small oil drum buoys will be moored in the harbour between the above-mentioned points during the week. Masters of vessels are warned to keep clear of the punt and buoys. These special precautions arc being taken on the line between Stokes' Point and Ponsonbv Point because several cables cross the. harbour in that locality. It is proposed to take borings on several other lines which have been 1 * suggested as sites likely to be suitable for the erection of the bridge.
