MIGRANTS OF GERMAN STOCK. [f EN ROUTE TO CANADA. (Received November 5. 6.25 p.m.) BERLIN. Nov. 4. There arrived at. Kiel by <i Russian ffpamer 323 migrants of German Wood, the vanguard possibly of a wholesale migration 1 of some of Russia's best peasant stock. Tlvy are descendants of German settlers Jvho were established in Bussia by Catherine the Great and the Emperor Alexander 1., who intended them to serve as a model for the native peasantry. Although their example was not followed they fliemselves throve. Their descendants continued their journey io Hamburg, where they embarked on a steamer for Canada. Before their departure they said life in rural Russia had become impossible. Those who were Pn State farms were just serfs*
