LIQUOR IN TOWN HALL.
CONDUCT OF ENTERTAINMENT DECISION IN WELLINGTON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. There has been some criticism recently regarding tho evidenco of consumption of liquor at entertainments held within tho precincts of tho Town Hall, and the matter was referred to at a special meeting of tho City Council to-day. On tho motion of tho Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, it was unanimously agreed that an amendment bo passed to the Wellington City by-laws making it an offenco for intoxicating liquor to bo brought into the Town Hall or any hall or building •under the jurisdiction of tho Wellington City Council without tho permission of the town clerk.
There was little discussion on the point, the ton councillors present being in accord that steps should bo taken to- exercise some check on tho conduct of dances and entertainments held in the Town Hall or tho concert chamber as far as tho consumption of liquor is concerned.
