LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
SCHOOLBOYS' TO URN AM ENT. VICTORY FOR NEWMARKET. A schoolboys' Leaguo football knock-out competition was held at Carlaw Park on Saturday. The football mid sports, which, were ru ti uiider the control of tho Aii llv nnd Football League and Primary Schools' Management Committee, were held under ideal weather conditions. Fast, spectacular play was witnessed between the soven competing teams, who displayed an unusually high standard of football. A special spot Is fcjituro conipiisinpr senior 100 yds. race for the championship cup donated by tho Newmarket Club, and a Midget 100 yds.. for boys under Gst. 7lb. was held between the fust and second rounds of the football competition. Tho results were ns follows:
Football.— first round: Newmarket, J3, heat Onehunga Convent, 0. S'cori-ra: N. McGregor, .T. Smith. Akaranu, :i, beat Richmond, 0. Scorer: 1?. Nixon. Otahuhu, S, beat Devouport, 0. Scorers: J. Mullins, S. Hamilton. Second round: Newmarket, 18, beat Otahuhu, 0. Scorers: H. Franklin, J. Smith, G. Walls. Mangere, 0, beat Akarana, 8. Scorers: Phillips, MeGuiro. The final proved a great struggle between Newmarket and Mangsre. Both teams gave a good exhibition of fust, clean football. Newmarket won by G points to 0. Ihe scorers were J. Smith and M. McGregor. Following were tlio results of tho athlotic events:—
