Ys-' The facl. that no member of this board of governi>rs was invited to attend the &v function Ji.fr which His Excellency the Governor-General bade farewell to pnpiig of Wellington College last Tuesday was y mentioned with some resentment by board members ;lit their meeting yesterday. The chairman, Mr. W. H. P. Barber, described ihw omission as a slight on the board. It was discreditable to -the board not to be (represented, and a slight on His Excellency a:i. well. The headmaster, Mr. W. A. Aamour, had mentioned the coming function in his report, but that did not constitute an invitation, and in. any case, was not received by members in time for l;hem to attend. The firs! knowledge! he had c>f the cere, mony, saitjl Mr. Barber, was ths account and photographs published on Tuesday evening. Itt was not the first time things like'this iiad happened. Mrs. E, W. Kane: He invited the executive,of ;he Old Boys' Association and not members of the board.
Mr. Barber said the board i.nd the Minister cog hi to have been out of respect to His Excellency. He had taken the opportunity of ringing up the Minister's secretary the next'morning and explaining that the omission was not the fault of the board. The board decided to. writs to Mr. Armour pointing out that the board expected to be invited to all such. function# in - future.
