STRANGE SCENE IN AIR.

PASSENGERS FACE DEATH. PRIEST GIVES ABSOLUTION* 'Australian and N.Z. Press Association. BRUSSELS, Oct. 20. 'An unprecedented scene occurred in an aeroplane .which was flying off tho Belgian coast. A Roman Catholic priest pronounced the absolution for tho dying when it seemed that nothing could save him and 11 other persons from death. Tho aeroplane was carrying 12 members of a Belgian touring club from Antwerp to Ghent, and when it was at a height of 1000 ft. the carburettor caught fire. Convinced that hope was gone the passengers begged for absolution. While tho priest was in the act the pilot, struggling for mastery of the machine, made a skilful landing on the coast. All were just clear when the petrol tanks blew up and the machine was destroyed. The terror of the ordeal turned the hair of one of the passengers white:
