PIGEON FLYING.

g| r> —Now that tho various clubs are in full swing I understand that most ot thcrn contemplate testing tlieir birds from Dunedin and Ghristchurch. I think this is cruelly. Most of the members are not acquainted with tho lay-out of tho South Island, and in such a race the birds would be subject to being crated about a week before liberation. In many cases tho birds are attacked by fast-flving hawks, being too weary to offer much resistance. If members gave this possibility a little more thought they might give their birds more consideration. H. Wauhurton.
