FOOTBALL ENTHUSIASTS.

TE AKAU RUGBY TEAMS. GREAT TRAVELLING RECORD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NCrARUAWAHIA, Monday. Members of the Te Akau Rugby Football Club, which is affiliated with the Taupiri Sub-Union «f the Waikato Union, hold a great record for travelling. Their home ground is Pnterson Park, Ngaruawahia, a little more than 30 miles from the store from which the conveyance starts j for the football field, and many of the players have to ride distances of up to 15 miles to reach the starting point. In spite of theso drawbacks the club fielded two fifteens until near the end of tho season when farm work caused the seniors to retire from tho rounds. The junior team fulfilled all its engagements, and won the competition, in which eight clubs competed. A dance was held last week in the J e 'Akau Hall, which was crowded, and the cup, tho trophy for tho competition, was formally presented to tho team by Mr. F. Hall, president ol the union. He heartily congratulated the young players on their fine performance, especially under Euch adverse conditions. He also preBented members of the team with caps ' which had been presented to the winners by Mr. Tapp, a local Rugby enthusiast. It is doubtful whether there is in the Dominion a club that can show such a , record. The members of the club have won tho highest regard of Rugby supporters, both by their high standard of play arid their gentlemanly behaviour both on and off tho field.
