VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND. INTEREST IN COAST LINE. With the object of staying for about a month in New Zealand to study the shoro-lina formations, in which be is greatly interested, Professor Douglas Johnson, professor of geology at Columbia University, New York, arrived at Auckland, by tho Niagara yesterday. He is returning from the International Geological. Conference held in South Africa recently. " I have read much about New Zealand's geological formation in books by Professor J. A. Bartrum, of Auckland, and Professor C. A. Cotton, of Wellington, " Professor Johnson said. " There are some very interesting physical features, especially round the coastline, and I welcome this opportunity of studying them fo»; myself." During, his ..stay, in New Zealand Professor Johnson hopes also to study the volcanic features. If time permits he will visit the earthquake area in order to inspect the land movements that have occurred.
