SCHOOL BATHS OPENED.
NEW POOL AT MATANGI.
CEREMONY BY MINISTER.

A large number of residents of the Matangi district were present at tho local school yesterday, when a new swimming* pool was opened by the Minister of Education, Hon. 11. Atmore. Tho pool, which is 70ft. long and 25ft. wide, is supplied with water from an artesian bore only 12ft. deep, and it fills in seven hours. The walls and bottom aie constructed of concrete, and the upper walls of galvanised iron. The total cost was approximately £4OO, half of this amount being raised locally by contributions and a gymkhana. Mr. W. Trounson, chairman of the School Committee, thanked Mr. R ; G. Howell, assistant-engineer to the Waikato County Council, who had supervised the construction of tho baths. The Minister expressed appreciation of the work of tho school committee, and Mr. W. Lee Martin, M.P. for Raglan, and Mr. F. Lye, M.P. for Waikato, made remarks in similar vein.
