Four of the foreign Legations at Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, including the British, were attacked and looted after the capture of tho city by the Shanwalis. The tribesmen ran amok. They sacked ex-King Amanulla's Palace and treasury. Three men were killed in gallantly defending tho British Legation from attack by Kohistani tribesmen.

NEW AFGHAN KING.

FOURTH IN PRESENT YEAR. BACHA'S FATE UNCERTAIN. British Wireless. RUGBY, Oct. 18. General Nadir Khan, who arrived at Kabul this week, has been proclaimed King of Afghanistan. Tho fate of Bacha-i-Sakao, tho robel usurper, whose forces have been defeated, is not certain, but ho is said to have surrendered to Nadir Khan's troops. Nadir is the fourth occupier of the Afghan throne this year. He is related by marriage to ex-King Amanulla. At one time Nadir was Commander-in-Chief of the Afghan Army, and afterwards Minister of War. Five years ago he went to Paris as Afghan Minister, but resigned through ill-health. Aftor two years Nadir emerged from retirement in the south of Franco at the beginning of this year and returned to Afghanistan in March. Prior to his recent successful offensive against Bacha three earlier efforts had been unsuccessful.

AMANULLA SATISFIED.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NADIR. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. ROME. Oct. 18. Ex-King Annnulla of Afghanistan has telegraphed his congratulations to tho new King Nadir Khan. He describes himself as "an Afghan who loves his country." In an interview Amanulla said: "I do not intend to offer any opposition to the policy of Nadir. I will willingly accept the decisions of tho National Assembly which elected him King. I have no intention of aspiring to tho throne, but am ready to servo Afghanistan even in the capacity of a simplo citizen."
