OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
HOUSE AT MOUNT EDEN.
DAMAGE TO INTERIOR. Fire broke out in a twb-storeyed house of 11 rooms at 18, King's View Road, Mount Eden, on Saturday evening. The occupants were absent at the time. The Mount Eden Brigade received the call from a neighbour at 8.35 p.m. Although the flames had a strong hold, the firemen saved tbo building from destruction. The hall and staircase were badly damaged, and the rooms and contents were slightly, damaged by smoke and water. The house, which is owned by. Mr. J. W. Jones, of King's View Road, comprised three flats, the upstairs one being unoccupied. The other flats were occupied by Mr. C. C. Leys, whose furniture was insured for £275 in the South British Office, snd by Mr. L. Jobson, whose property was not insured. The house was insured for £2300 in the Liverpool and London and Globe Office.
A minor outbreak occurred at tha premises of Crothall Way Cleaners and Dyers, Limited, Edenvale Road, Mount Eden, at 1.20 p.m. on Saturday. Vert slight damage was caused to the building and contents.
THAMES HOUSE DESTROYED.
OWNER ABSENT AT TIME. [Br TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Sunday. Firo last evening destroyed a fiveroomed house in Upper Albert Street, Thames, owfied and occupied by Mr. Butler. The outbreak was notified shortly; before nine o'clock, and the Thames Fire Brigade was quickly on the scene. Little could be done owing to the poor pressure of water. Tho occupier and his family were at Mokai, and the origin of the fire is no known. The house had been locked up.
