At present in Papua undertaking anthropological research under the ausnices of the Australian National Research Council is Dr. Hortenso Powdermaker, of Baltimore. Her principal aim is to make a study of the women of the Mafalu tribe, with whom she intends to spend a year. Dr. Powdermaker is a oraduate of arts of the Groiicher tolfece, Baltimore, and has studied for three years under Professor Marinowski, of tho London University.
