BAN ON "STRAPHANGING."
NEW LYNN BUS SERVICE.
PROTEST BY THE COMPANY.
Representatives of tho Auckland Bus Company, which conducts a service between the city apd New Lynn, Glen Eden and Henderson, waited upon the Minister ofVPublic Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, 011 Saturday, to protest against decisions of tho Transport Board prohibiting passengers from standing in tho company's buses and imposing a quarterly inspection of its vehicles. Mr. Bryco Hart, on behalf of the company, said the restrictions tvere imposed only on the Auckland Bus Company. In response to protests, the Public Works Department bad postponed the operation of tho restriction regarding "straphanging" on condition that tho company put a new bus on tho road by December 1 and two more by February. This the company wa3 endeavouring to do. i Four new buses were under construction at the present time and a now garage was being erected at New Lynn -at a cost of £2500 Mr. Ransom said he wouid refer tho company's protest to tho Minister of Transport, the Hon. W. A. Veitch.
