PETROL TAX ALLOCATIONS.
FUNDS FOR LAST QUARTER. AUCKLAND CITY GETS £2BOO. The Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom, has prepared a statement showing the petrol tax distribution for tho quarter ended September 30. The sum of £17,913 is availablo for distribution among cities and boroughs of a population •of moro than 6000. This figuro represents 8 per cent, of the petrol tax collected by tho Customs Department during July, August and September, and is payable to cities and boroughs under the Motor Spirits Taxation Act, 1927, in proportion to the population.
Taking into afccount the population in each case the Minister has approved the following allocation, the districts being boroughs unless otherwise stated:— Whangarei, £196; Takapuna, £188; Devonport, £281; Auckland City, £2810; Mount Albert £643; Mount Eden, £538; Onehunga, £307; Hamilton, £408; Gisborno, £376; Napier, £442; Hastings, £301; New Plymouth, £414;. Wanganni City, £685; Palmersf on North; £543; Master km, £233; Lower Hutt, £319; Petone, £292; Wellington City, £2906. Nelson City, £290; Greymouth, £165; Christchurch City, £2415; Timaru, £445; Oamaru,£2o4; Dunedin City, £1844; bt. Kilda, £224 ;• Invorcargill,. £543.
