ANGRY SENATOR'S ACT.
AUSTRALIAN ELECTION SCENE
Continued interruption which occurred at a meeting held in the Town Hall at Caulfield, Melbourne a few nights ago, in support of t.h? candidature of Mr. T. W. White, for the Balaclava saat, culminated in Senator Elliott jumping from the platform and gripping an interjector by the shoulder. Instantly the meeting was in uproar. Another man in the audience pulled benator Elliott away, and he was prevailed upon to return to the platform. IJieie was a storm of hoots and boos from the excited audience after tho clamour had subsided. . , Tho disturbance followed a question by an interjector whether the members of the Government would take off their coats and do a hard day's work. Senator Elliott apparently accepted it as a personal remark, and declaring that he had commenced work at 12 years of age, jumped from the platform to record his disapproval.
