In tho olden days when farmers used to take their babv pigs to country fairs to bo sold, they put one little pig up for show nnd tied tho others up 111 bags ready for customers to take straight away with them. Very often, when tho buyers opened their bags, they founds cats inside instead of pigs. This was dono so ofton that people began to untie the sacks before paying their money—often letting the cat out of the bag '' when they opened it.
