THE PUMICE LANDS.
Sir, —I think tho public is entitled to know the identity of your correspondent who conceals himself behind the pseudonym "N.Z." that it may judge of his qualification to condemn this vast area. Mr. Michael Joseph Galvin is not a farmer and it may interest "N.Z." to know that his evidence was entirely discounted and discredited before the committee, as anyone may see who cares to procure a copy of the report of the proceedings. I repeat once more that this country, and the railway to open it up for settlement, can be opposed only by misrepresentation and ignorance. E. Earle Vaile.
