Combined board scheme.
[BY TELEGRAPH.--OWN CORRESPONDENT.] • WHANGAREI, Friday. Although only 700 were required, 825 signatures havo already been secured in the Whangarei County for tho creation of a combined power district. Two ridings, Wairua-and' Mangakahia,-have not yet complotcd their returns. The others have supported tho petition. Tho County Council to-day decided to forward the petition. The chairman suggested that efforts bo made to dispense with an election for tho five members to represent Whangaroi on the board. If tho necessary number of nominations were received, and no more, tho county would bo saved £l2O. " . .
