GREAT BOWLING FEAT.
GEARY CREATES NEW RECORD TEN WICKETS FOR 18 RUNS. Tho dramatic manner in which the Glamorgan v. Leicestershire match at Pontvpridd ended caused discussion wherever crickctejs foregathered, says an English paper. The game, which took place on a bowler's wicket, ended on the second afternoon, the visitors, thanks to Geary, who put up a. record performance, winning by 15 runs. During the greater part of the play Glamorgan had more than held their own, and were left with no rnoie than 04 to -win. Geary, however, had jubt received u telegram stating he would be required for the test at the Oval, and, us though to celebrate the circumstance, lie at once proceeded to make cricket history. He sent back the first five men for a beggarly total of J9 runs, and altogether claimed the whole of tho ten wickets at a cost of only in a total of 68. Geary established a new 1 record for firstclass cricket, for never before had a bowler obtained all the ten wickets at so small a cost. In a Curric Cup match between Eastern Province and Griqnaland West, at .Johannesburg, in 1906-7, Vogler look all ten for 26.- but the latter were a very weak side. W. P. Howell, in his first matcli in England, had ten for 28 for Australians v. .Surrey, at the Oval in 1890, and A. E. Moss, who was very fast indeed, hail similar figures for Canterbury v. Wellington, at Christehurch, New Zealand, i'n 188990. When John Wisden bowled down all the wickets of tho South for the North, at Lord's, in 1850, the analysis was not kept, all that is known definitely being that lie look them "for scarcely"3o runs." So Geary's new record was set up with a good many runs to spare.
