Brophy, shore manager in tho Dominion for tho Byrd Antactic expodition, will bo interested to read tho following telegram from New York, which appeared in tho Springfield Republican newspaper of August 27: " Clothes. containing cablegrams from Commander Richard E. Byrd, and business cards bearing the name of Richard Galo Brophy, formerly second in command to Commander Byrd on tho latter's expedition to tho Antarctic, wero found in a locker room at the Washington Baths at Coney Island to-day. The clothes had been checked there yesterday. " Tho police learned that Brophy had been living at the Hotel Belvedere, but had been missing for two weeks. H* 3 wife and child wero said to bo visiting friends at Toronto. " Ono of the cablegrams, signed by Commander Byrd and dated April 2, read as follows' Much obliged for your message. Remember that no matter what hard luck you may havo had we can work things out if you will continue to havo faith in me. Host of good wishes.' The second message, dated April 22, read:—' Pleaso let mo know if there is anything I can do for you. Cheerio, old fellow.'
