RUGBY REPLACEMENTS.

CONTINUATION IN SYDNEY.

A motion by Dr. Warren against replacing players in inter-State or international games, and an amendment by Mr. E. J. Thorn, that replacements be allowed up to but not including half-time, wero both defeated at a recent meeting of tho New South Wales Rugby Union. Voting wa3 12-11 against the amendment, tho chairman giving his casting vote against it. But on tho voting for the motion only 10 were in favour and 13 against. That showed that delegates were prepared to allow things to go on as usual, which provides for replacements up to and including half-time. * Dr. C. F. Warren pointed out that as tho British team would be out next season it > would bo wise to adhere to the ]aws of the game, as the visitors would nofc allow replacements. Further, he was of the opinion that the replacement system was bod. He quoted tho instances In the recent All Blacks' games, when injured men were substituted by others during th© interval. In opposing replacements Mr. J. J. Davoren said: "The game is ono for 15 a-side. It is a game where you go in to do or to die. Big lootbali should be played all in—life or death. You'll havo to play to the rules against tho Britishers next season, so why not make it for all game 3?" It is evident the matter is not done with definitely. A move will bo made to alter the competition rules at tho next annual meoting.
