CASE OF SPECTACLES.
CLUE TO ARMED ROBBER.
ARREST MADE AT SYDNEY,
SYDNEY, Sept. 20,
Detectives yesterday arrested a man in connection with the robbery at a store in Rozelle last Saturday, when Constable Grinham was shot in chasing the criminal. A spectacle case was dropped by the robber, and this led to his arrest. The case bore the embossed name of a New Zealand optician. A cablegram was sent to 'the New Zealand police authorities asking them to have the optician interviewed who had supplied the glasses and to ascertain the namo of the owner of the case.
A reply from New Zealand gavo tho namo of a man whQ had served a sentence in tho Dominion. Ho is an A QS * tralian with a criminal record hero.
Yesterday the polico saw this man, and m order to allay bis suspicions one constable simulated (drunkenness. As the suspoct approached he was arrested and charged with shooting Constable Grinham with intent to murder him. •
