HOWICK TOWN BOARD.
STREET IMPROVEMENTS. A meeting of the Howick Town Board was held on Thursday evening, tho chairman, Mr. J. Crawford, presiding. An offer by the Post and Telegraph Department to sell to the board for £5 a small portion of land to round off tho corner of Uxbridge Street and Picton Street, adjoining the post office, was accepted. An amended subdivision plan of Hillacre's estate was deferred for further consideration. It was decided that no licences should be granted this year for grazing cattle on tha roads in the township area. The following works were authorised for street improvements:—Metalling and blindmg Beach Road; grading and metalling Brown Street; and reforming and widening tho corner of Church Street and Sale Street. It was agreed to call tenders for clean* * ing gorse on Melon's Bay reserve. The noxious weeds inspector reported that a good response had been made by property owners* in having their sections cleaned up.- A few who had not done so had received final notice prior to summary action being taken.
