SENTIMENT.
Expressions of sentiment havo to be very delicately presented to bo palatable Who wants apocryphal uttei'ances and hysterical outbursts? There's no real feoling in them nor in any of tho whole box of tricks of tho psoudo-sentimentalists who enjoy one's troubles, if only ono knew it, as they'd enjoy a free meal. Theso people who think "it's almost indecent to bo without sentiment —as admittedly it's difficult to bo a respectablo human being without having a soft sjiot for tho sonows ot others—aro cherishing a very infenoi quality unless it blossoms spontaneously Sentiment is so often far from being tho lovable trait it's belioved to be. At tho best it can't bo universal, It can only bo an emotion sparingly shared with a few. Better almost to bo dubbed brutal than pretend what one doesn't feol for tho look of tho thing.
