THE FAMOUS GLASS SLIPPER.
We havo nil heard the story about Cinderella and her glass slipper, but very few of us havo stopped to think why the slipper should bo glass. it came übrnit in a confusion of. words. Before ever iho story was written Cinderella had a slipper of vair, an old French word for leather, which is pronounced the samo as the word verre, meaning gla.-,s. When the story was written, however, a confusion arose, and we find Cinderella has a slipper of verre. That is how tho famous crystal slipper originated.
