Everybody lias *>eon those posters of strong, silent men, pointing accusing masculine fingers from hoardings and demanding to know why tho world at largo does riot smoke, a certain brand of cigarettes or buy a certain make of underwear. Miss Gladys Hewctt, a pretty young Brighton typist, passed one 011 her way to tho oflice every morning. It depicted a very handsome young man with crisp curly hair, and Miss Ilewett sighed a long, deep sigh. " Why doesn't 011 c meet men like that in real life? " she said to herself.
.And then dawned the great idea. Miss Ilewett sat down and typed a letter to the firm asking if by any chance the poster had been drawn from life, anrl if so, would tlicy forward her letter to the original. fn the envelope she enclosed her pliolograph. Miss Hcwett subsequently told a newspaper correspondent tho sequel to her strange romance.
•' J got, a reply slating that there was an original of the poster and that my letter bad been forwarded to him," sho said. " A few days later came a letter from the young man himself. He enclosed his photograph arid asked mo if I would write to him
" The young man proved to bo a wireless operator in the Merchant Service. His brother is a poster artist, and used him as a model when be was home on leave. Yesterday he came homo from a long voyage in the East." Mi 33 Ilewett proudly exhibited a halfhoop diamond ring on tho third finger of her left band. "And now we're engaged to be married." she smiled happjly.
